Travelling to England – useful information

We look forward to welcoming you to Windsor, England, for the 2026 KEA Instructor Conference.

This section provides some useful information to help you prepare for your visit.

Travel authorisation and visas

  • Please ensure you check the entry requirements for the United Kingdom well in advance of your travel.
  • Many visitors to the UK are now required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling. An ETA currently costs £20 and can usually be applied for online.
  • Depending on your nationality, you may require either an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) or a visa. Requirements vary by country and individual circumstances.
  • We strongly recommend that all delegates and guests check the latest guidance and apply for any necessary travel documentation as early as possible.
  • For full details, please visit the UK Government website to check if you need an ETA or visa: https://www.gov.uk/eta
  • The Conference organisers are unable to provide immigration advice, and responsibility for obtaining the appropriate travel documentation rests with each delegate.

Climate

October in England is typically mild and autumnal. Average daytime temperatures range between 10ºC and 16ºC, although temperatures may occasionally be cooler, particularly in the early morning and evening.

  • Credit and debit cards are widely accepted throughout the UK, including contactless payments and mobile payment services such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

The United Kingdom uses 230V electricity with Type G three-pin plug sockets.

International visitors may wish to bring a suitable travel adapter for charging electronic devices.

Drinking water

Tap water in England is safe to drink and is subject to strict quality standards.

Shopping and dining

Most shops are open between 9:00am and 6:00pm, with larger shopping centres often opening later.

Restaurants, cafés and pubs are widely available in Windsor and the surrounding area.

Tipping

Tipping is discretionary in the United Kingdom. In restaurants, a service charge may already be included in the bill. Where no service charge has been added, a tip of approximately 10–12.5% is customary for good service.
